My One Word for 2017: Believe

One word for 2017: Believe

In 2017, I will BELIEVE.

If you’re not familiar with the concept of one word, it’s a twist on the New Year’s Resolutions by focusing on one word that you’ll embrace for the coming year. It’s your intention and will guide everything that you do.

This year, I’m choosing the word BELIEVE.

I’m sharing this with you because I want to make sure that I’m keeping myself accountable and being intentional with my words and the directions I’m moving into.

It was a little hard to narrow it down. I finally decided when I was talking with my husband about something random and reversed a comment. I shared “It’s not like…” and I stopped myself because I why could I have that? I told him that we could have it and I’m believing that it will be for me.

With that said, I’ve made up my mind that if I have a thought or opinion, I’m not saying “I think…” but rather “I believe”. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Believe as the following.

  1. a:  to have a firm religious faith b :  to accept something as true, genuine, or real <ideals we believe in> <believes in ghosts>

  2. to have a firm conviction as to the goodness, efficacy, or ability of something <believe in exercise

  3. to hold an opinion :  think <I believe so>

  4. a:  to consider to be true or honest <believe the reports> <you wouldn’t believe how long it took>b :  to accept the word or evidence of <I believe you> <couldn’t believe my ears>

  5. to hold as an opinion :  suppose <I believe it will rain soon>

I’m focusing on the definition of 1b, to accept something as true, genuine or real. And guiding that through everything I do. I will speak with believing and make intentional actions that reflect my believing things are true, genuine or real.

The Actions of Believe

While I’m not making a series of New Year Resolutions, I am being intentional with my goals for the year. I have more than a few and I’m creating them all over the place in addition to here online. For 2017, I’ve decided to do something a little different and I’m creating a vision board for all my goals and plans for the year on Pinterest. You can follow this board here and I’m going to add in all the things I want to keep track of. Let me know if you want to join in and I’ll create a group board for us to share with each other.

I have my word and we’re officially into 2017. I honestly can’t wait to see what it brings for everyone. What are your plans for 2017? Are you embracing a new word? Share it with me so I can help you be accountable as well.

My one word for 2017 is Believe. I embrace the belief of great things happening to me.

My fiancé and I wrote down goals for 2017 and we are putting them on a board in our bedroom to keep us accountable. I like the idea of having a word for the year!

That’s great you planned as a family. I really want to do that with mine but they didn’t get into it. I want us all be on the same page and understand what we’re working towards as a family.

Great post! I love this idea. If I had to choose one word, it would be Focus — a laser-like focus on God. If I look away from him, I’m off track.

Believe is a great word for 2017. I definitely agree with you with believing and be intentional. I’ve considered a Pinterest vision board. Wasn’t sure how to start but I want one I can keep and access from any where.

I just added a few things to do that I wanted to have this year. I added in links for places I want to write and visit. Just the whole visual of what I want it to be.

I hope you word of the year carries you far!

My one word for the year is greatness. I almost considered not choosing one but when I was writing a blog post greatness really resonated with me.

Way to go with you word: BELIEVE
I’ve caught myself talking myself out of things in the past that were totally doable – but my words downplayed it.
    Have a wonderful 2017.

Thanks for the well wishes. I am totally not talking myself out of anything this year! I believe we can have it all. We have to stop doing that to ourselves.

This is a great idea. While I am not embracing a word, I am setting forth a plan and doing my vision board for the year, and then revamping it around my birthday.

My word for 2017 is BOLD. No more playing small and hiding in the background for me. I am boldly believing that what I want and what God wants for my life will manifest in a great way. I really like the one word intention. When you feel yourself getting off track you can always circle back to that word to realign your path.

This is an awesome idea. It’s sometimes hard to find one word to encompass your entire year but I definitely think believe is a word to start with. If I had to come up with one word it would be Finalize. I think there are a lot of things that will be finalized this year and I have to be persistent to make sure that happens.

Believe is a great word, but my word of choice for 2017 is FOCUS. I believe I can do more in my life for sure, but my focus is all over the place. I’m razor focused now on my business and can’t wait to see how things turn out! Happy New Year!
