#THXBirthControl – My Thanks

Thanks Birth Control 2

It’s the season for thanks and I’m so happy to say #THXBirthControl. It might seem like a weird thing to be thankful for but I am very happy to say “Thanks Birth Control” today. I’m going to be totally transparent and say I would love to support abstinence only programs but the data says that 95% of Americans had premarital sex. To not share information in light of this fact would be irresponsible. I believe in supporting strong families/communities and see preventing unwanted pregnancies … [Read more...]

How to Practice Self-Compassion – #1000Speak

1000speak-blank

Today I’m honored to join bloggers all over the world in raising their voices for compassion today. I jumped right into it because I think the world needs a little more compassion or as I like to think of it grace for each other. Being totally honest, I am not always the most compassionate person. I think I am but I don’t extend it equally and I sometimes forget this compassion when it comes to those who I perceived who have wronged me in some way. I know that usually something that happens … [Read more...]

Love is Everyday

Love-is-Everyday

I can’t believe it’s almost Valentine’s Day already. Somehow it’s just kind of snuck up on me so I’m glad that Love is Everyday in our family. It sounds kind of cheesy but I’ll stand firm on it. February is a little extra full of love in our house this year for a few years. Truly, I know Love is Everyday, just like being superhero family is based in being a family everyday. I realized that our 10 year 6 month anniversary was last Saturday. The 6 months aren’t usually what you … [Read more...]

Living #Kwanzaa

UMOJA (2)

Today is the final day of Kwanzaa. This is the first year that I've broadly shared it and I feel like I need to clarify a few things. First off, it's not a new or trendy thing for me and my family. My Kwanzaa celebrations go way back. Personally, my family has not had the most boring year. My family has grown with a new baby. My husband and I both lost people close to us this year but we also are continuing to celebrate the wonderful times we spent with our family and friends. The circle of … [Read more...]

So that one time at the Family Forward Conference….

So that one time at Family Forward...

My family spent a weekend at the Family Forward conference at the Universal Orlando Resort. I can only say that it was amazing from our Minion Suite in the beautiful Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, the hilarious Blue Man Group show and three days at the Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure, including special conference only parties at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley and Jurassic Park Visitor Center.  It’s so much to share that I’ve been thinking about the … [Read more...]

Grub Burger Bar Review

Grub Burger Bar Review

The boys and I were invited to lunch at GrubBurgerBar by another blogger (you can check out her full review here). I’ve passed by several times because it’s right in our backyard, so I was thrilled to visit and let you know what we think. We had the opportunity to sample a full variety of items on the menu. However, because we were hosted I wanted to try it again with an average experience before telling you just how much I loved it. On our second visit, it was just as great and I can without a … [Read more...]

Tools of a Super Hero Family – #FamilyForward

Tools of a Superhero Family - Family Forward Conference

Our family is going to the Family Forward Orlando Adventure hosted by Mom it Forward. This is THE trip I’ve been waiting for. The whole family (including Daddy!) is going. We’re staying at the Lowes Portofino Bay Hotel and visiting Universal Studios. The theme for the weekend is becoming a Super Hero Family. This is my family written post on the ways to become a Super Hero Family. Creativity & Laughter – If it’s seeing the Willy Wonka movie in a carton of milk your child spilled, … [Read more...]
