Tennis Anyone??

One of the areas of my life that I really need to work on is the fitness part. I’ve been doing some walking, moving towards the running for the Disney Princess Half-Marathon and I’ve also decided to pick up tennis. 

US Tennis Association (USTA) Atlanta is running the Tennis Apprentice program at several areas around Atlanta and I figured what better time to take a class? The class meets for 6 weeks and provides a racquet, USTA Membership, USTA League Registration & an End of the Year Party/Round Robin Tournament. 


This will not be my first tennis lesson. I took them literally 25 years ago but never kept moving forward with it. So I’m excited because I’m getting out of the house and doing something for me! But beyond that I’m excited because I’m moving towards getting fit. It’s really important to me that I start some good habits for making my life better. According to, the 5 health benefits of playing tennis include:
  • improving cardiovascular health (reducing my risk of stroke),
  • developing muscles (perfect for those Michelle Obama arms!),
  • improving or maintaining brain development (keeping Alzheimer’s and other mental diseases away),
  • developing fine motor skills and
  • increased self-esteem, vigor and optimism.
