Trolls Movie Review

I’ve been trollified! You can do it too at http://www.dreamworks.com/trollify.

It’s the day of the Trolls!

In case you’re wondering what Trolls I’m talking about, it’s opening day for the new movie Trolls! My family was able to attend a screening and I highly recommend it for people of all ages, not just families. It’s a rare movie that my husband, my 8 year old, my 4 year old and I ALL leave the theater feeling like we’d PAY to see it again and can’t wait to add the DVD to our collection.

Here’s the official synopsis of the movie:

From the creators of Shrek comes DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls, a smart, funny, and irreverent comedy about the search for happiness, and just how far some will go to get it. This hilarious film transports audiences to a colorful, wondrous world populated by the overly optimistic Trolls, with a constant dance in their step and a song on their lips, and the comically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have trolls in their stomachs.

After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy (Kendrick), the happiest Troll ever born, and the overly-cautious curmudgeonly Branch (Timberlake) set off on a journey to rescue her friends. Together, this mismatched duo embark on a rescue mission full of adventure and mishaps – trying to tolerate each other long enough to get the job done.

Utilizing music to further the film’s narrative, the Trolls soundtrack is produced by Justin Timberlake and features five original songs including songs by Justin Timberlake and Gwen Stefani in addition to a number of classic hits from the 60’s – 80’s.

What Real People Think About Trolls

Overall, I would describe the movie is smart, fun, light and happy! This is a unique movie that makes you feel light and cheerful but Trolls does it without being silly. In fact, it’s a really smart movie that makes you question your approach to different situations and provides a message while entertaining you. It’s not full of overt messages; there are some points for a conversation starter in it however.

The music plays a huge role in creating the mood and you will really leave the movie dancing in your seat because there were so many iconic songs that you’ll want to hear again. I told my husband I can’t wait to get the soundtrack and I don’t remember the last movie soundtrack I actually wanted to take home. If you think I’m joking, check out the track listing here. I know you’ve heard the Justin Timberlake hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling” but it is only one of the hot songs on there. There’s a version of “Mo Money Mo Problems” and an amazing version of “True Colors” that Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick perform. Check out down below if you don’t believe me.

Yep, you want to hear this full soundtrack or at least the snippets, check it out here.

If that’s not enough of a reason to go see the movie, I’m giving away a $25 gift card to AMC Theaters so you can take your family to see Trolls a second time! You have to go this weekend and see it but the second one can be on me. Just enter to win below. Good luck!
